    Trivia, a taste

Three questions about our own (slightly tall) history. Answer on the beer mats — they flip to tell you how you went.

    1. Where does the pub get its name?

A signal box stood across the tracks until the 1960s. Its brass lever plates now hang above the front bar.

    2. Which regular had her own spot on the front bar?

Mrs Pickles the cockatoo, who — so the story goes — called last drinks at ten to eleven, sharp.

    3. About how many steps from platform one to the front bar?

Roughly 380 at a stroll — about four minutes, or three if you're chasing last orders.

Pick an answer on each mat.

By train, car or on foot

    Getting here

We're the green-tiled corner building directly opposite Bendigo Station — drawn here the way the old signalmen would have.
