Systems

Three sizes that suit most Townsville roofs.

Every system is designed for your roof and switchboard, with panels laid out to dodge shade and cyclone-rated racking chosen for your site.

Batteries

Keep the midday sun for dinner time.

Most homes make their surplus at noon and need it at 6 pm. A battery soaks up the difference so your evening runs on your own sunshine.

10 kWh

Covers a typical evening: lights, cooking, TV and a few hours of aircon.

How it works

From your roof to your kettle.

Your home always uses its own solar first. Only the leftovers charge the battery or head out to the grid.

Panels make DC power

Sunlight knocks electrons loose in the cells — no moving parts, no noise.

The inverter converts it

DC becomes the AC your appliances use, and the app logs every kilowatt-hour.

Your home goes first

Whatever’s running right now — fridge, pool pump, aircon — uses solar before anything else.

Leftovers are stored or sold

Surplus charges your battery, then flows to the grid for a feed-in credit from your retailer.

What could solar do for your bill?

Three questions, an illustrative answer and every assumption laid out. It takes about twenty seconds.

Suggested system

6.6 kWabout 15 panels
Illustrative generation9,500–11,400 kWh a year
Illustrative bill savings$1,150–$1,480 a year
The assumptions behind these numbers
  • About 85% of your bill is usage at 32c/kWh; the rest is supply charges. Both are illustrative — yours depend on your retailer and plan.
  • Feed-in credit of 7c/kWh for exported power (illustrative).
  • North-facing panels in Townsville average about 4.4 kWh per kW per day; north-east/west ≈ 96%, east/west ≈ 87%, south ≈ 72% of that.
  • Share of solar used at home: 25%, 40% or 55% depending on daytime occupancy, plus 25 points with a battery (max 85%).
  • System sized at about 1.25× your daily use, rounded up to a standard size. No shading, panel ageing, rebates or incentives included.

FAQ

Good questions we hear every week.

Still wondering? Call us — a real person in Townsville answers.

Do panels still work on cloudy days?

Yes, just less. Thick wet-season cloud can halve a day’s output or more, but the long, clear dry season more than makes up for it across the year.

What about cyclones?

Mounting has to suit your site’s wind region. We design racking and fixings for North Queensland cyclone loads and check your roof structure before we quote.

Will solar keep the power on in a blackout?

Not on its own — for line workers’ safety, grid-connected systems switch off during an outage. Some batteries can run chosen circuits in a blackout; ask us about backup.

How long does an install take?

Most homes are done in a day. Two-storey homes, tile roofs and battery installs can take a second day.

Is my roof suitable?

North-facing is best in Townsville, but east–west roofs work well too and spread generation across the day. Shade from trees or a neighbour’s second storey matters more than direction.
