Disability and community support · Wollongong, NSW

Open Door Support Services

Support that fits your life.

We help people with disability live the way they choose — at home, out in the community and on the road. You tell us what matters. We listen, make a plan with you, and turn up when we said we would.

  • We help people with disability.
  • We help at home and when you go out.
  • We listen to you.
  • We come when we say we will.

What we help with

Easy Read is on. Each part of the page now uses short sentences with pictures.

Every person is different, so every plan is too. These are the four kinds of support we offer — most people mix and match.

  • We can help in 4 ways. You can pick more than one.

Daily living

Help with the everyday things at home: cooking, cleaning, showering and getting ready, shopping lists and keeping on top of appointments. We go at your pace.

  • Meal planning and cooking together
  • Personal care, done your way
  • Sorting mail, bills and appointments
  • We help you at home.
  • We help you shop, cook and clean.
  • We help you shower and get dressed.
  • You choose how we help.

Community access

Getting out and doing what you enjoy: the beach, the library, the footy on the weekend, a class, catching up with friends. We can come along, or help you build the confidence to go on your own.

  • Classes, clubs and volunteering
  • Learning a new bus or train trip
  • Social outings with a familiar face
  • We help you go out and have fun.
  • To the beach, the shops or the footy.
  • We can come with you.
  • Or we help you go on your own.

Transport

Rides to appointments, work, study and social plans. Our van fits a wheelchair, and your support worker can wait with you if you need them to.

  • Medical and therapy appointments
  • Regular trips to work or TAFE
  • Door-to-door, with help at both ends
  • We can drive you.
  • To the doctor, to work or to fun things.
  • Our van fits a wheelchair.
  • We can wait with you.

Respite

Short breaks for you and the people who care for you — a day out, a quiet evening in, or an overnight stay at home with a worker you already know.

  • Day outings and evening support
  • Overnight support in your own home
  • Planned breaks so carers can rest too
  • Short breaks.
  • For you and your family or carers.
  • For a day, an evening or a night.
  • With someone you know.

How to start

Four steps, no paperwork to begin with. You can stop at any point.

  1. Get in touch

Call, text, email or use the form below. A real person from our Wollongong office will get back to you.

    • Call, text or email us.
    • A real person will reply.
  2. Have a chat

We meet at your home, at a café or on a video call — wherever you feel comfortable. Bring anyone you like.

    • We meet you.
    • At home, at a café or on video.
    • You can bring someone.
  3. Make a plan together

We write down what you want help with, when, and who with. You read it, change it, and only say yes when it feels right.

    • We make a plan with you.
    • You can change the plan.
    • You say yes when you are ready.
  4. Support starts

You meet your support worker before the first visit. If it isn’t the right fit, tell us and we’ll change it — no hard feelings.

    • You meet your worker first.
    • Not a good match? We change it.

What it costs

It depends on your plan.

If your support is paid for through a funding plan, we’ll show you which of our supports it can cover before anything starts. If you’re paying yourself, you’ll get the price in writing first.

  • You see the price before you say yes.
  • The first chat is free.
  • A clear statement every two weeks. No surprise bills.

General information only. Your plan and its funding rules decide what can be covered. We’ll help you check — this page is not financial or planning advice.

Meet the team

A small local team, so you see the same faces. Drawings, not photos — you’ll meet everyone properly before they visit.

  • This is our team. You will meet them before they help you.
