Three rooms under one roof

Each one has its own bathroom, a proper bed and a window that glows at dusk.

Chapter II

Breakfast by the fire

Breakfast is served from eight until ten at the long kitchen table, with the fire going from May to September. Prefer a slow start? Ask for a hamper at your door — just let us know by 8pm the night before.

  • Stewed rhubarb & valley berrieswith thick yoghurt and toasted oats

  • Buttermilk pancakespoached pear, maple and a dusting of cinnamon

  • Eggs your wayon sourdough, with hot-smoked trout or bacon

  • Mushrooms on toastthyme, garlic and local goat’s cheese

  • Fruit loaf & honey from up the roadplunger coffee, leaf tea or hot chocolate

Included with every stay. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan versions with a day’s notice.

Chapter III

Out and about

A few general ideas for your days. Check conditions and opening times before you head off.

Ride the rail trail

Flat, easy riding through the valley. Bikes can be hired in town; we’ll pack you a snack.

Autumn colour

Around April and May the town’s street trees turn gold and red — the whole valley glows.

Up the mountain

Plateau walks, granite lookouts and, in winter, snow — all a scenic drive from the door.

River swims

The river runs right through town, with shallow spots for a dip on hot summer afternoons.

Cellar doors & breweries

The valley has plenty. We’re happy to suggest a local driver so nobody draws the short straw.

The snowfields

A day trip away in winter. Carry chains if the road signs say so and leave early.

Arriving & leaving
Check-in 3–7pm (later by arrangement), check-out 10am. A lantern stays on for late arrivals.
Weekends
Friday and Saturday nights have a two-night minimum.
Children
Guests 12 and over — it’s a quiet cottage, and the Loft stairs are steep.
Pets
Assistance animals only, sorry. The wrens appreciate it.
Cancelling
Full refund up to 14 days before arrival; after that, 50% unless we can re-let the room.
Accessibility
The Wren Room is on the ground floor with one small step at the door. Ask us anything.
The fire
Firewood and kindling supplied from May to September.
Parking
Off-street for three cars at the side gate.
