Website redesigns that keep what works
We review and redesign existing small-business websites, starting with the platform, account access, content and changes you need. The work may be a focused update, a full redesign or a migration, depending on what we find. We work mainly online in English and Chinese, with the scope, costs and milestones agreed in writing before work begins.
Who this is for
- Owners with a useful website whose mobile layout, content or enquiry path needs attention. Tell us what still works as well as what causes difficulty.
- Businesses that have changed their services or information and need the website to explain the current offer clearly.
- Teams considering a platform move who need a plan for content, account access and old page addresses before deciding.
The scope
What we agree in the scope
- An assessment of the current platform and the permissions available to change it, before recommending a method.
- A review of phone layouts, the path to an enquiry, existing content and page speed, with the requested changes listed.
- An agreed list of pages and content to keep, change or move, tied to the written scope.
- For a migration, an old-to-new address map and agreed redirects, rather than abandoning the previous page addresses.
Scope separately
- A commitment to change a particular platform before its structure and your access have been reviewed.
- New content writing, photography, extra languages or connections unless they are part of the agreed quote.
- Ongoing maintenance beyond the agreed handover and support arrangement.
Start with what is there
Share the website address, the platform you use and what access is available. Explain the changes you want customers to notice. We review the content as well as the layout, so that useful information is not discarded simply because a new design is being considered.
On a phone, can visitors understand the service and find the contact route? Are important facts current? Does speed make browsing difficult? These questions help turn a general request to refresh the site into a list of work that can be assessed and quoted.
Update, redesign or migrate
A focused update can address specific content or layout problems while retaining the useful structure. A fuller redesign can reorganise several pages around the current business. A migration changes the underlying platform as well. We recommend a route after examining your existing platform, rather than promising support for every system.
A migration needs an address plan. List the existing pages and their destinations, then agree the redirects to relevant new pages. This can reduce disruption from changed addresses, but search rankings cannot be guaranteed. Retained content and new material should both be included in the scope.
How we work
- 1
Understand the job
We discuss your business, audience, existing tools, budget and the problem you want to solve.
- 2
Agree the scope
You receive a written proposal covering the work, deliverables, schedule, costs and payment stages.
- 3
Design, build, review
Review layouts and working previews at agreed milestones. We confirm any change in scope before proceeding.
- 4
Launch & hand over
We check the agreed flows, help you launch and hand over accounts and guidance. Ongoing support is agreed with you.
Written scope and costs
- 01
We quote redesign work after assessing the current site and the changes required. The number of pages, amount of content, platform constraints, connections and migration work all affect the scope. The written proposal explains deliverables, payment stages and ongoing costs. Changes are confirmed before additional work starts; the review is the basis for a practical quote, not a fixed price for every existing website.
Working together across cities
We work online with businesses across Australia and overseas. If you'd prefer to meet in person, we can arrange it in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth.
Questions before you start
Can you change it on my current platform?
We first check the platform, its structure and the access you have. Then we recommend an update or a migration and explain the work in writing. We do not make a platform commitment before that assessment.
Will a redesign affect search rankings?
Changed content and addresses can affect how a site appears in search. Mapping old addresses and setting relevant redirects can reduce migration risk, but cannot guarantee rankings. We plan the handling of existing pages as part of the work.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on the pages, features and content readiness; milestones are set out in the written proposal. The assessment should identify what can be retained and what must be prepared before work proceeds.
Can we keep the old content?
Yes, where it is still useful and accurate. We agree what to keep, revise or remove after reviewing it with you. Include photographs, service descriptions and existing addresses in that discussion so the migration or redesign scope reflects them.
Discuss the work you need
Send us your current website and the changes you need. Tell us what you want to keep, who prepares new content and which accounts you can access. We use that information to discuss a suitable route.
